Sixteen years is a long time to wait for your true love to reappear, and, anyway, Nicki Johnson couldn’t wait for the impossible to happen. Hard life lessons have taught her that fairy tales are children’s stories, and fate is cruel. Burying her hopes, she’s spent the last sixteen years focused and driven toward her career, and it’s landed her with a job at the White House with a gem of a boyfriend. But when her high school love, Adam Kincaid, walks into the White House as a BBC reporter, Nicki’s world is thrown into turmoil as she relives their past. Adam has come back for her, but has he arrived too late?
I cannot express how thrilled I was that Disclosure of the Heart was already loaded onto my Kindle and ready
to go when I finished Beside Your Heart. I cried my face off at the end of Beside Your Heart. It was a ‘my face is going to hurt tomorrow,’ ‘I
can’t believe the author would do this to me’ cry. God, the ending of Beside Your Heart was painful. It was almost as if Mary Whitney
filled my heart up with so much love and joy only to leave my heart broken and
shattered into a million tiny pieces. It hurt!!! A little dramatic, you say? I
think not! As soon as I finished drying my tears and
blowing my nose (I told you it was an ugly cry!), I dove right in to Disclosure of the Heart. Can I tell you
that my mantra while reading was as follows: After all that pain, I better get
my happily ever after!!!!
his native UK while Nicki Johnson is left despondent and in despair in her
native Texas. This was tough to read. It was tough to read because I
believed!!! I believed in true love and in soul mates again after reading Beside Your Heart. I believed that Adam and Nicki had something
special even though they were only in high school. I believed!!!
the Heart begins sixteen years after Beside
Your Heart ends. Nicki had not had any contact with Adam since he walked
out of her house in the wee hours of the morning on the day he left Texas forever.
Sixteen years!!!! As a result of Adam walking out of her life coupled with the
pain and loss she had already endured, Nicki believed that fate was cruel and
fairy tales were children stories. She buried all of her hopes and dreams,
bottled up her feelings and channeled her energy into her work and being uber
successful. All was right with her world until Adam walked back into her life.
emotional risk? Aghhhhhhhhh!!!!! I’ll admit it: I was so angry with Nicki at
the end of Beside Your Heart. I was
screaming at my Kindle: Why?!?!? WHY are
you letting him go?!?!? What is wrong with you? Do something!!!! As soon as he walked back into her life, I
started screaming again: Do something!!!!
Say
something!!! Don’t be an idiot! Kick Juan Carlos to the curb! What is
happening!?!? I got a little invested in their story. Can you tell? 🙂
Adam, I died just a little. He was back!!!! Don’t let him go Nicki!!!! Their
lives were complicated when they were teenagers in that they had no control
over the ocean that would separate them. But now that Adam is back, their lives
are still complicated. Nicki is the deputy press secretary for the President of
the United States and Adam is a correspondent for the BBC. Nicki has worked too
hard for too long to let a scandal bring down her career and taint the office
of the President she adores.
the universe with a connection as strong as the connection Adam and Nicki
shared, sixteen years was nothing yet everything at the same time. They had
changed and matured in the years they had been apart but one thing remained the
same: they were meant for each other. I loved watching Adam and Nicki’s love
begin in Beside Your Heart but what I
love even more is watching their love blossom in Disclosure of the Heart. I love this story. A LOT.
Similar to my review of Beside Your Heart, I can’t fill this review with quotes from Disclosure of the Heart because I don’t
want to ruin a single bit of this story for you. I can tell you unequivocally that Disclosure of the Heart is one of my favorite books of the year. I
LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!! Yes, I know…shouty caps and all. What can I do
or say to make you read this book? Push it to the very, very top of your TBR
list!!! I dare you not to fall in love with Adam Kincaid. Buy it!!! Read it!!!
LOVE it!!!
